A Message From The President
I am honored to continue representing the
Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation’s bicentennial (50th) year.

In recognition of our Gala theme, the Harlem Renaissance taught us that when a community rises together, it does more than create art, music, and literature—it creates hope, strength, and legacy. Our Foundation stands in that same tradition, drawing power from unity and pride in who we are. Just as those visionaries lifted their voices to inspire a generation, we too must raise one another up, ensuring that our light shines not only within our profession but across San Diego.

Lifting each other up means recognizing that every victory—large or small—is shared. When one of us advances, our entire community advances. By mentoring, celebrating, and supporting one another, we reaffirm the truth that our collective strength far exceeds what any of us could achieve alone. Together, we are the bridge for those who follow and the foundation upon which future generations will build.

As we reflect on 2025 and move forward, let us remember that our duty is not only to the practice of law but also to the practice of love, justice, and community. In that spirit, we will continue to create spaces where opportunity flourishes, where voices are heard, and where the dream of equality is not deferred but realized. Together, we rise—honoring the legacy of the past while shaping the promise of tomorrow.
